Out of all services rut for people shop service is the most frequent and it’s no wonder. Shops are supplied with the necessary things/goods/ which people buy to keep themselves living. There are different types of shops in cities. The biggest of them are groceries and department stores. Lately supermarkets have become popular. In big cities there are huge grocery stores. Let’s pay a visit to one of them.

The first counter is the smoked fish, herring, pike, perch, sturgeon, salmon, flatfish, tinned fish and fish delicacies.

Next comes the fruit counter with its nuts, jams, fruit-juice, tinned fruit, marmalade, dry fruits, berries, grapes, oranges, apples, pears, plumps, peaches, apricots, strawberries, blackberries, gooseberry, raisins.this particular shop has now a vegetable counter, but there are special shops – greengrocer’s that sells potatoes, carrots, onions, cabbage, green peas, bean, beets, cucumbers, tomatoes, pickled vegetables, garlic, parsley.

Counting our tour, we come to the confectionery counter with all sorts of sweets, chocolates, cakes, biscuits, candies, fancy cakes, pastries, pies. Next is the bakery counter, which is well stocked with loaves of fresh white and brown bread, rings, rolls, and buns. Further is the dry grocery counter where you can buy flour for making dough, cereals, tea, sugar, millet, rice, pasta, and noodles. Everything is sold ready packed. Vegetable oil is ready bottled.

There is also a big dairy counter with a good variety of dairy products: butter, margarine, eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, cheese spread creams, sour-cream, bottled and loose milk. Next to it there is the smoked meat and sausages counter. It sells different sausages, ham, bacon, beef, smoked pork, roast ducks, geese, and turkey. At the butcher’s we can buy lean and fat neat, beef, mutton, veal, poultry, chops.

The customers pay the money either to the saleswoman/man or at the cash desk. The shop assistant weights goods on scales and says how much they cost. At big grocery shops there is a special delivery service where you can make your orders by phone or in person. The charge for delivery service is quite reasonable. But the people who are on the look out for the best quality like to see what they are getting. They prefer not to do their ordering by phone. The people have to make sure that they don’t do over their daily allowance. The family budget must always be kept balanced!
